Our Community.

Our Power.

Our Prosperity.

Building Black Generational Wealth, Health, and Well-being

As a society, we are called on to change to disrupt the imbalance of power and create a liberated future with shared prosperity for Black people.

The Black Future Co-op Fund is a new paradigm for philanthropy uplifting Black-led solutions that ignite Black generational wealth, health, and well-being.

Our 2023-2025 strategic framework

Building on what we’ve learned, we developed a three-year strategic plan organized around four primary areas of impact: connected Black communities for collective power, promoted truthful Black narratives, invested in Black generational prosperity, and shifted the philanthropic paradigm.

By and For Black Washingtonians

The Black Future Co-op Fund is a cooperative philanthropy rooted in the beauty, soulfulness, and strength of Blackness. Our vision is a Washington state, working cooperatively, where all Black people are liberated, prosperous, and self-determined to fully live our lives.

Confronting Anti-Blackness

Black people have long been vital contributors to Washington communities. Yet, anti-Black racism has purposely and persistently undermined the opportunity for Black people to build wealth over generations. Discriminatory policies and the systemic devaluing of Black lives have perpetuated unequal and adverse life outcomes for Black people.

Black communities are forging new pathways to self-determination, as America reckons with racism and racial injustice.

We’re Listening

In the months ahead, we are hosting a series of listening sessions across the state to hear directly from community. Black Washingtonians are the soul of the Fund — by centering their voices we recognize and uplift true narratives of Black people across Washington. What we learn will both shape our own approaches and be shared with our colleagues to inform the sector.
