Meet our 2026 We See You Grantees!

This round of funding for our 2026 cohort was entirely community-driven. Each grantee was nominated by an existing We See You grantee. All leaders who were a part of the nomination process come from across the state and work across sectors, each one dedicated to improving the lives of Black people and putting in the daily work of creating a radically free Black future.

ALF Tacoma and Pierce County

Pierce County

The American Leadership Forum joins and strengthens a diverse community of leaders in Pierce County to better serve the public good. We do this through a year-long Fellows Program in each Chapter’s community in which leaders can engage in dialogue, differ, and build relationships. ALF strengthens Fellows’ capacity to address public issues collaboratively and builds a strong leadership network to work for positive change in the communities we serve.

The Black Equality Coalition is a testament to the strength that can emerge when individuals unite to confront injustice and create a better future for all. We envision a future where Black families are no longer overrepresented in negative statistics, but fully resourced, supported, and positioned to thrive. Through community-driven programs, authentic partnerships, and intentional investment, we are actively creating that future today.

Build 2 Lead

South King County

Build 2 Lead is a community-based organization operating an integrated youth development system that combines civic leadership, workforce pathways, health equity, and trauma-informed wellness to transform outcomes for BIPOC youth and young adults across South King County.

Eastside Pathways

King County

Eastside Pathways is a collaborative community organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in East King County. By working together with organizations, community leaders, and partners, they strive to create lasting, equitable improvements intergenerationally.

Excuse My Accent

Excuse My Accent is a global media platform designed to share cultural stories of inclusivity, spotlight incredible individuals from diverse backgrounds, and feature organizations that support multicultural communities. We offer our platform to spread inspiration and stories of inclusivity, and to give a voice to those that are not heard. Our mission is to shed a positive light on cultural experiences and to embrace people from all backgrounds.

JustLead

Statewide

JustLead Washington is growing a sustainable network of legal and community leaders who can effectively and collaboratively work toward equity and justice in Washington State. Our signature program, the Leadership Academy, is a cohort-based training where Fellows ground their work in shared values and learn competencies that further leadership at the individual, organizational, community, and movement level. Our capacity-building training services center leadership development, race equity, and collaboration between legal and community partners.

Langston

Central Seattle

LANGSTON is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization, founded in 2016 with the purpose of spearheading programs at the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. We lead innovative programs and foster community partnerships that center Black art, artists, and audiences while honoring the enduring legacy of Seattle’s Black Central Area.

Maji Rising is based in Spokane, Washington, with a mission to cultivate a community of holistic care that empowers individuals to seek better outcomes for themselves. With a vision firmly set on creating a more equitable future, Maji Rising aims to foster the traditions of lineage-based health care, establishing a transformative community dedicated to healing and promoting overall well-being.

Millennia Ministries

Snohomish County

Millennia Ministries aims to offer adults & children an opportunity to thrive, breaking the cycle of poverty in their lives, and for generations to come. Their Mission is to end homelessness by providing housing instability advocacy, crisis, transition, and permanent supportive housing.

Rainier Valley Community Development Fund is a self-sustaining, community-controlled financial institution dedicated to promoting community development and economic opportunity through responsible lending to people who have traditionally been unable to access credit. We are committed to mission-driven lending as the foundation of our work.

Re-Cede

“Re-Cede” is derived from “re” to receive and “cede” to yield or to give up. It represents the symbiotic relationship of receiving and yielding for true racial repair. Birthed by a black woman and a white woman who collectively experienced harm and came together to heal and offer that healing to the world.We are an inclusive, multiracial, non-profit committed to equity and justice. We believe that the rest of bodies is an imperative component of equity, justice and inclusion for all — regardless of their race, gender or body identification.

Sports in Schools is a Seattle-based nonprofit working directly with athletic directors, coaches, and partners to eliminate financial barriers so students can participate in school sports. We envision a Western Washington where every student can thrive in school-sponsored athletics, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, ability, or financial circumstances.
